Deputy Jailer

Salary ranges from $30,680.00 to 39,416.00

This position is responsible for the secure and humane incarceration of detainee's awaiting trial or transfer to another jurisdiction.  This position deals with persons that could be charged with a wide variety of criminal charges such as failing to pay a traffic citation to the extreme of being charged with Homicide. This position often has to deal with individuals that are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.  A Jailer is considered to be an entry level position into a career in Law Enforcement.

Certified Deputy Sheriff

Salary ranges from $36,400.00 to 45,136.00

Sheriff's deputies are trained law enforcement officers that work strictly at the county level for the elected Sheriff. As a general rule, they patrol the geographic region that is unincorporated by nearby cities in that county or cities that have no municapal police coverage. They also investigate all crimes that occur in these areas such as thefts, rapes and murders. Patrol deputies respond to a variety of calls including: burglaries, domestic calls, vehicle accidents. As sworn officers of the law, sheriff's deputies are also charged with enforceing traffic laws and making arrests.
